Simon Papa

 
Roberto Taufic was born in 1966, in Honduras of Arabic origin on his mother’s side and then moves to Brazil with his family at six years of age, starting his musical studies four years later. At fifteen, he partook in various Brazilian popular music festivals and starts working part time in various studios in Brazil , performing as both as a guitarist and musical arranger in various musical recordings.
In 1985 with Cantocalismo group formation, he records his first record. The group plays at the concert openings of Geraldo Azevedo, Boca Livre, Joyce and Luiz Melodia. In 1986/7 he starts playing with Dulce Quental and Wilson Simonal performing a tour in the Brazilian States.

Iin the subsequent year participates in the Projecto Pixinguinha with Diana Pequeno in Rio de Janeiro. In 1990 he arrives in Italy and settles in Rome for four years furthering his musical studies and performs, collaborating with various artists. In 1994, he travels to Brazil to take part in a tour accompanying the singer Elza Soares together with Giancarlo Maurino, saxophone player and also participates in the musical arrangements of Nonato Buza’s record with the drummer Robertinho Silva.
In 1995, he moves to Piemonte where the Latin Touch group is founded with Giancarlo Maurino, the singer Simon Papa and the Brazilian percussionist Gilson Silveira.

To date in Italy he has worked and performed with Harold Bradley, Rosalia de Souza, Karl Potter, Roberta Pierazzini, Marco Tamburini, Francesca Sortino, Patrizia Laquidara, Luigi Tessarolo, Simon Papa, Michele Rabbia, Marco Siniscalco, Giovanna Gattuso, Laura Ghirardi, John Arnold, Bob Mover, Pietro condorelli, Claudio Borelli, Flavio Boltro, Enzo Zirilli, Aldo Mella, Paolo Porta, Diego Borotti, Massimo Camarca, Augusto Martelli, Gianmaria Testa, Alfredo Paixao, Ney Portilho, Renato D’aiello, Rino Vernizzi, Barbara Raimondi, Miroslav Vitous and others.
