The
TRIO JOGRAL was created in 1996. Since its inception the three performers
have participated in numerous festivals and venues. The group presents
a repertoire that works with a vast range of Brazilian rhythms,
characterizing the diverse geographic area of Brazil: from Samba
to Bossa Nova, from choro to Maracatù and Baiao. All this
is presented through original pieces and reinterpretations of others’
works, among them the most interesting authors of the MPB (Popular
Brazilian Music) such as Tom Jobim, Edu Lobo, Guinga, Gonzaguinha
and Milton Nascimento. The result is music that has a strong emotional
impact. The rhythm intersects with the melody and there are is much
room for improvisation where the musicians’ virtuosities are
able to alternate fluidly. In the summer of 2003, the trio made
a cd, that aside from being full of new compositions, also contains
original instrumental versions of famous works such as Upa Neghinho
by Edu Lobo and Garota de Ipanema by Tom Jobim.
